Around the House
We finally got to visit the milpa,
growing corn, that we helped plant in April with the family and then later with
Matt and Joel. We are happy to report that there is actual growth and
progress! The day we visited Marlon and Josesito were helping with the
fertilizer. We all went for a stroll to visit our two fields.
Then a couple of days later, we
got to hang out with Charity's G-Love, Garrett. It was great to finally
get to meet the man that Charity is all goo-goo over. Being 6'5", I
imagine that he had a fun time traveling around in a country made comfortable
for all people under 5'2". They stayed the night at our house after
one night in Guatemala City and Garrett seemed to feel right at home although
his only Spanish phrase at the time was "Si, pues".
A couple of these other pics are
of our new animals around the house. I won't call them pets because when
one of them dies, no one seems to be too sad, as was the case with the cute,
tiny kitten that died while I was gone on my last trip. I can't say I was
surprised. He was all bones and didn't eat much. Martin found him on
the side of the highway, no mom and apparently no hope for survival. But
we loved him while he was around. Bailey, my pooch's namesake, is also a
new addition with Dexter, her sister. The family insisted that they be
named after our gringo dogs back home. I think they would be honored.
