Momostenango
This is another mountain village
that was plucked out of a scene from a novel. The air here is clean, and
the people are like none other on earth. We visited a popular scenic spot
where sandstone cliffs seem to spring out of nowhere. We also checked out
the local market. Notice how the women here carry
everything on their heads. Well... except for the old grandmother carrying two
heavy sacks on her back... she's behind our friend Pedro.
Astonishing! I followed her through this crowded market for a good quarter
mile or so. We also see many men here carrying loads the size of Yugos
on their backs... tying a strap around their head which reaches behind them to
secure the load. I honestly don't know how they do it.
We continue to find that Guatemala is a place of
incredible beauty with an unmatched spirit.
It's too hard to describe, but we'll spend the year trying.
