We got back to Austin to an airport with several friends and family to greet us. What a welcoming sight! Immediately after we visited one of my favorite restaurants, Chuys, before heading to Miranda and Jeff's where we would live til we found a home. We got to know the twins and since they are so cute, we took a ton of photos! We got to go to Cameron's birthday party before we left on the tour and I got MORE pics of the twins. We also snapped a few shots of our welcome home party but none really do it justice. We had a great time at our Open house style shin-dig. We ate a lot too. It was fun.
We also have pics from our re-entry retreat with all the volunteers that served a year either nationally or internationally this past year. Each group had to perform a skit at the end of the weekend depicting something about their year. Ours was "GUATEMALA: The Musical" with music from Oklahoma. Following this tongue-in-cheek rendition we changed it up and described some words and phrases we learned in Guatemala: hospitality, unconditional love, trust, grace, and presence. With the help of our resident expert in all things theatre, Jen, we came up with the images you see below.
