A Merry Little Christmas
Before
Christmas, all of the volunteers got together for a good old-fashioned holiday
shin-dig. What fun. Though Scott had the stomach flu the vast majority of the
time (I promise you, you don't want details),
it didn't dampen the experience. We made a Christmas tree out of branches,
created our own ornaments, baked a squillion cookies, sang Christmas songs,
celebrated each night with a lighting of our advent wreath, exchanged gifts and
enjoyed a crackling fire each night, compliments of our resident Eagle Scout. Since it was Selena's birthday, Gabby came
up with a cool, new party game called "Pin The Appendix On Selena", to
honor her recent appendectomy. It's sure to be a smash hit at every child's
birthday bash as soon as we can get Hasbro or Parker Brothers to buy our patent.
Also,
being the giving people that we are, we forewent (?) a private couple room and
we all shared a dorm style room with all the YAVs complete with bunk beds. Scott
and I scooted our beds together but given the near sub-zero temperatures, we
stayed in separate sleeping bags and beds. One morning Scott decided to be
cute and try to snuggle but was surprised when seconds later he ended up on the
floor because the crack opened. Now that's love. I miss our
queen-sized bed (sigh).
Happy
Holidays!
